You can add a test device and target it from the dashboard to ensure your notification is displayed correctly.

Batch allows you to find information on your installation and save your ID to send test notifications to your device.

This is useful to test your integration or make sure the notification you are editing works as expected on a real device (deeplink, image, Mobile Landing, etc).

Here is how to proceed:

1. Locate your advertising ID

Open your device's settings, go to Google > Ads and write down the code you will find.

🚧 In case you don't find the "Google" menu in your device's settings, try to find an app called "Google Settings" in your app drawer and open it.

2. Find information on your device

On Batch's dashboard, go to Settings > Debug, and paste your Advertising ID (with the GAID field selected). Then click on "Save as a test device".

In case you just need to test your integration, you can use the "Send test push" button. Batch will send a generic message with an image to your device.

🚧 Didn't find your installation?
This may happen if the app doesn't share the advertising ID of your device with Batch.

From version 1.18 of our SDK, you can retrieve your Installation via the "Find my installation feature": Batch will copy the Installation ID to the clipboard when the application appears in the foreground 4 times within 20 seconds.

Here is how to do it:

If you are on an older version of the SDK or deactivated this feature via our dedicated method, we recommend displaying the Installation ID somewhere in the app: Displaying the installation ID.

You may also ask your developers if they send a Custom User ID to Batch.

In any cases, make sure the app you are testing includes Batch's SDK.

3. Sending a test notification

You can send a test notification from 3 different places:

a) From the debug tool

In case you just need to test your integration, you can use the "Send test push" button (see screenshot above). Batch will send a generic message with an image to your device.

b) From the list of registered test devices

You can see the list of all the registered test devices from Settings > Push Settings. This is helpful to check if the token of your saved devices are still valid and delete them if it's not the case.

c) From the campaign editor

You can send test notifications to your device to see how your campaign looks from the message editor. Click βš™οΈ to select your device in the saved devices, or copy your GAID in the corresponding field. Hit "Send a test".
