Batch allows you to find information on your installation and save your push token to send test notifications to your device.
This is useful to test your integration or make sure the notification you are editing works as expected on a real device (deeplink, image, Mobile Landing, etc).
The easiest way is to use your Installation ID if it is displayed in your app or your Custom User ID if it is sent to Batch. Once you retrieve your ID, go to point 2.
If you don't have the previous IDs, you can use your advertising ID (IDFA) if your app collects it and shares it with Batch. Here is how:
1. Locate your ID
1. Installation ID
💡 From version 1.18 of our SDK, you can find your Installation using the "Find my Install" feature.
Batch will copy the Installation ID to the clipboard when the application appears in the foreground 4 times within 20 seconds. For more information, here is the dedicated article.
2. Advertising ID
You can also install My Device ID app on your iOS device to find your Advertising ID.
Make sure that:
You allow the app to track your IDFA:
"Limited Ad Tracking" is not enabled in your device's settings > Privacy > Advertising. Otherwise, you will need to disable it and reopen your app.
2. Find information on your device
On Batch's dashboard, go to Settings > Debug, and paste your ID (with the right ID type selected). Then click on "Save as a test device".
In case you just need to test your integration, you can use the "Send a test" button. Batch will send a generic message with an image to your device.
🚧 Didn't find your installation?
This may happen if the app doesn't share the advertising ID of your device with Batch. Ask your developers if they send a Custom User ID to Batch or if they can display Batch's anonymous Installation ID somewhere in the app.
3. Sending a test notification
You can send a test notification from 3 different places:
a) From the debug tool
In case you just need to test your integration, you can use the "Send a test" button (see screenshot above). Batch will send a generic message with an image to your device.
b) From the list of registered test devices
You can see the list of all the registered test devices from Settings > Push Settings. This is helpful to check if the token of your saved devices is still valid and delete them if it's not the case.
c) From the campaign editor
You can send test notifications to your device to see how your campaign looks from the message editor. Click ⚙️ to select your device in the saved devices, or copy your IDFA in the corresponding field. Hit "Send a test".
